Sky observation on dark site - Dholavira on 30 Sep - 02 Oct'19

Event Details

30th Sept till 02nd Oct are the special days when you get to see the Dark sites i.e Sun, Moon & the milky way sets down the horizon sequentially and there is a complete darkness all around. A dark site is where there is zero pollution, no suspended particulate & no Light pollution. There are few such dark sites in India, Hanle in Ladakh is the best one, and the other one in Kutch region of Gujrat.

On 01st Oct 2019, Sun Set at 06.37pm, Moon Set at 08.51pm, & Milky way Set at 11.00pm. So, a perfect time for sky watching & night sky photography.

Come join Nisarga Bhraman as we head to Dholavira (Kutch-Gujrat) to observe the beautiful sky in its full glory and educate ourselves about various constellations and galaxies...  a night out experience under Millions of Stars.....


Day 0- 29 Sep'19
Board 22955 "Kutch SF Exp" starting BANDRA TERMINUS @  17:45 hrs

Day 1- 30 Sep'19
Get-down at Samakhiali @ 06:03 hrs
Move towards Dholavira by public transport, check-in in Home-stay. Freshen-up and then move to explore Dholavira excursion site -the Harappan time civilization. Post lunch in evening  visit Fossil park and the last BSF post bordering Pakistan. Enjoy sunset from Fossil park. Post dinner setup the telescope and cameras for the night sky photography.. Enjoy photography till battery last Or as per your convenience.

Day 2- 01 Oct'19
Rest for whole day, In late evening pickup a location slightly away from village lights to enjoy Sun set + Moon set + Milky-way set till midnight. 

Day 3- 02 Oct'19
Board 11091 "BHUJ PUNE EXP" from Samakhayali at 11.16 hrs and get down at Vasai Road stn at 00.10 hrs

Rules & Regulations
  • Consumption of alcohol, Drugs, Narcotics is strictly banned on the event & should lead to expulsion from the trek
  • The leader’s decision will be final and binding on all members. No arguments will be entertained
  • Each member will be responsible for his/her own safety and baggage
  • Avoid medication such as sleeping tablets, sedatives, strong painkillers, and anti-histamines Which depress the respiration and increase the risk of AMS- (Acute Mountain Sickness) especially while sleeping
  • Please do not wear any jewellery or gold chains/rings
  • Please do not litter, we believe in the saying, “Wherever you go, leave only your footprints and take back only memories.”


Hiking / Trekking / Rock climbing is an adventurous activity and accidents can happen despite taking utmost caution and care. The organization will not be responsible for any injury / accident / death to the participant while on trek.

Medical Disclaimer:
It is Important to be physically fit while on treks. If suffering from any allergy or ailment, please bring prescribed medicines to prevent serious health problem including heatstroke, severe headache, cough, dehydration and hypothermia. Participants suffering from chronic conditions like asthma bronchitis, blood pressure, migraine, diabetes etc. should take permission from their physicians before treks.
