Backpack trek to Chitrakote waterfalls & Kailash - Kotumsar Caves 28 Feb - 03 Mar'19

Event Details

Region :- Jagdalpur-Chattisgarh
Duration :- 4 nights – 4 days
Grade :- Back pack trek/ tour

Chitrakoot waterfall (The Niagara Falls of India)-

The Chitrakoot waterfall is located on the Indravati River and is the largest waterfall in India and may be the widest waterfall in Asia. It is popularly called as “The Niagara Falls of India”. The height of the waterfall is about 29 metres (95 ft). The wideness of the waterfall depends on the water level in the river Indravati. During monsoon, the water level of the river touches the both banks which are nearly 150 m in wide, and the waterfall look like wild in nature. During the rainy season rainbows are created with sun rays reflecting on mist from the waterfall.

Tirathgarh Waterfalls-

Is situated at 35 km from Jagdalpur, in the south-west direction. The waterfall has an approximate height of 300 ft and is situated in the Kanger Valley National Park. The water falls from 91 meters but its staircase-step, structure makes it less violent and gives it an amazing look.

Kailash & Kotumsar cave-

Kailash & Kotumsar caves are limestone cave formed on the Kanger limestone belt, situated near the bank of the River Kanger, a tributary of the Kolab River. The Kutumsar Caves are essentially underground and are two kilometres deep and pitch-dark and are open just up to a specific direct.

The Kailash Cave is situated on a small hill and was found in 1993. The cave has a length of almost 100 m. It has a restricted passage and contains stalagmite and stalactite developments. A stalagmite development in the state of a Shivlinga is arranged toward the cave. The interesting thing is that when struck by hand, the hollow walls of the cave make stunning melodic sounds.

There are species of frogs and blind fishes which dominate the fauna inside the cave. The way to the outside is through the same course that took one inside the cave.
