Karnala fort is a hill fort in Raigad district about 10 km from Panvel city. Currently it is a protected place lying within the Karnala Bird Sanctuary. It was a fort of strategic importance as it overlooked the Bor ghat which connected the Konkan coast to the Deccan Plateau of Maharashtra. The fort was likely constructed before 1400, under Devagiri Yadavs(1248–1318) and the Tughlaq rulers (1318–1347), Karnala was the capital of the north Konkan districts of their respective empires.
From the top we can see many forts Viz. Prabalgad, Manikgad, Haji Malang, Chanderi fort, Matheran, Sankshi fort, Dronagiri fort, and Rajmachi.

Itinerary

  • Meet @ Panvel ST depo @ 07:30 am
  • Round of Introductions and Briefing on Rules and Regulations
  • Breakfast and then leave for Karnala fort by private transport
  • Reach fort top by 12:00 am
  • Explore the fort & Lunch break
  • Start descending by 2:30 pm and reach base by 3:30 pm
  • Reach Panvel ST depo by 5:00 pm (Tentatively)

Rules & Regulations
  • Consumption of alcohol, Drugs, Narcotics is strictly banned on the event & should lead to expulsion from the trek
  • The leader’s decision will be final and binding on all members. No arguments will be entertained
  • Each member will be responsible for his/her own safety and baggage
  • Please do not wear any jewelry or gold chains/rings
  • Please do not litter, we believe in the saying, “Wherever you go, leave only your footprints and take back only memories.”
