Kedarkantha Trek is one of the classic gems of winter treks in the Himalayas. With falling winter snow it’s an attractive pictorial view of the Mighty Himalayas from the trails right to the top lying at the altitude of 3,810 meters/ 12,500 feet. The summit offers a remarkable 360° bird’s eye views of Dhauladhar ranges and Godly peaks like Swargarohini, Banderpooch, and Black Peak. From the top, you can also view the Rupin valley, Har Ki Dun valley, and views that go down to the dense settlement of Purola. Kedarkantha trek lies in the Uttarkashi district of Uttarakhand. It starts from a small but busy village of Sour – Sankri which is in the Govind Wildlife Sanctuary national park. 
Day 1: (06 Feb) Pickup from Dehradun Railway Station and Drive to Sankri (base camp) by taxi
Total distance 210 km – 8/9 Hours journey
Mode of journey– By taxi
Altitude– Sankri base camp– 1,920 Meters
Night stay– Hotel on twin share basis
Meals: Evening Snacks, Dinner

Nisarga Bhraman will organise transport from Dehradun Railway Station in morning. We will leave for Sankri around 6:00 am to 7:00 am. The drive from Dehradun to Sankri is an enchanting hill drive of 8-9 hours via Mussoorie, Damta, Naugaon, Purola, Mori and Naitwar. You will see the beautiful valleys and forest cover throughout the journey. We will have our breakfast & Lunch on the way. Reach Sankri by evening.

Day 2: (07 Feb) Trek from Sankri to Juda Ka Talab (2,700 m / 9,100 ft.)
Trek Distance  5 Km- 4/5 Hours Trek
Altitude– Juda ka talab– 2,700 Meters
Night Stay – Camp in tents
Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Evening Tea/Coffee/Snacks, Dinner

Good Morning with hot cup of coffee/tea at 6:00 am and get ready for your breakfast by 7:30 am. Pack your belongings and leave at 8:30 am after the instructions from your guide. 
The trek starts from Sankri to Juda ka Talab which is 5 km away. After a little walk from the main market you will witness Swargarohini peaks (I, II, III). As you move further the forests becomes dense and more beautiful. You can spot many Himalayan birds along toe route. 
Juda Ka Talab (The Lake of Separation) campsite is surrounded by tall pine and oak trees and mountain slops. Talab is a beautiful small lake right in the middle of the forest and during winter the lake freezes allowing you to walk above it. Camp here for an overnight stay, enjoy the serenity scattered around this place with evening sunset and glittering sunrise in the morning.

Day 3: (08 Feb) Trek from Juda Ka talab to Kedarkantha base (3,400 m / 11,250 ft.)
Trek Distance  3.5 Km – 2/3 Hours Trek
Altitude – Kedarkantha basecamp  – 3,400 Meters
Night Stay – Camp in tents
Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Evening Tea/Coffee/Snacks, Dinner

Like other days enjoy tea/ coffee, have breakfast at 7:30 am and leave at 8:30 – 9:00 am. Today, you will be heading towards Kedarkantha base from where Kedarkantha peak is clearly visible. 
Today’s trail is short and again begins through dense forests of pine and oak trees. It takes 2-3 hours to reach the open highlands below the summit. Move further through pine forest and reach your campsite from where the Kedarkantha peak shines tall and relish the great views. Afterwards enjoy hot lunch. Evening free for photography & relaxing.

Note: – Today you will be briefed on the summit and the gaiters & crampons will be provided.

Day 4: (09 Feb) Trek from Kedarkantha base camp to Kedarkantha Summit (3,800 m / 12,500 ft.) and descent to Hargaon Thach (2,600 m / 8,450 ft.)

Altitude – Kedarkantha Summit (3,800 m)
Hargaon thach – 2,600 Meters
Night Stay – Camp in tent
Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Evening Tea/Coffee/Snacks, Dinner

Today is the main day of your trek, get ready at 4:30 am in the morning to witness sunrise from Kedarkantha summit. Light breakfast will be served at 4:30 am then the trek with start. Soon you will reach just below the Kedarkantha summit. The ascent to top is 1.5 km long. There is the temple of Lord Shiva and Lord Ganesha on the top, from top you will see the Dhauladhar range, Chainsheel Pass, Har ki Dun valley and Rupin valley. Swargarohini also comes into view along with Black Peak and Bandarpoonch. Some of the other peaks you see include Gangotri, Jaonti, Yamnotri, Jorkanden and Draupadi ka Danda. After spending some time on the top, we head towards Hargaon. The descent is going to be fun,  you will slide down over snow which will also be the great experience. Have lunch on the way, rest for sometime and move towards the campsite.

Day 5: (10 Feb) Trek from Hargaon thach to Sankri
Trek Distance  5.5 Km – 4/5 Hours Trek
Night Stay – Hotel
Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Evening Tea/Coffee/Snacks, Dinner

Today morning enjoy the breakfast at your last camp of this trek. We will descend thru a marked path laden with stones. A trail further leads to a ridge from where you get an awesome view of Har Ki Dun valley. Reach Sankri by noon.

Day 6: (11 Feb) Return from Sankri to Dehradun by taxi 
Distance  210 Km – 8/9 Hours Trek
Mode of journey – Bay taxi
Meals: Breakfast

It is your last day at camp, post breakfast certificates will be given and after some beautiful photos we will bid you all a goodbye from Sankri.

Cancellation policy-
Lockdown and cancellation due to Covide issue- full refund

Cancellations prior to 90 days from the start of the trek — full refund
Cancellation between 89 days and 40 days to the start of the trek — 50% refund
Cancellation less than 39 days to the start of the trek — no refund.

If a trek is called off at the last moment due to a natural calamity/unforeseen circumstances (like rains, earthquake, landslides, strike/bandh etc.), Nisarga Bhraman will not be responsible and will not give any refund.
Drop out during trek: If for some reason a participant has to drop out from the trek on any day then Nisarga Bhraman, will make arrangements for his/her return up-to base camp. The stay cost at has to be borne by the participant.

Hiking / Trekking / Rock climbing is an adventurous activity and accidents can happen in spite of taking utmost caution and care. The organization will not be responsible for any injury / accident / death to the participant while on trek.

Medical Disclaimer:

It is Important to be physically fit while on treks. If suffering from any allergy or ailment, please bring prescribed medicines to prevent serious health problem including heatstroke, severe headache, cough, dehydration and hypothermia. Participants suffering from chronic conditions like asthma bronchitis, blood pressure, migraine, diabetes etc. should take permission from their physicians before treks.
