Anjarle Village- Is a village in the Dapoli taluka of Ratnagiri district -Maharashtra state. It is a small port located near the mouth of Jog river. Anjarle is well famous for its beautiful beach, ancient Ganpati temple (Kadyaarcha Ganpati) and for the Olive Ridley turtles…
Olive Ridley sea turtle-
The olive Ridley sea turtle gets its common name from its olive-coloured carapace, which is heart-shaped and rounded. They migrate in huge numbers from the beginning of November every year for mating and nesting. In our country the turtle majorly comes to Odisha cost and along the Konkan sea belt for laying their eggs .. Anjarle beach is one of them..
The 'Homing' characteristics of the Ridley sea turtles make them more prone to mass casualty.
To protect this endangered species and to spread awareness, the NGO “Sahyadri Nisarga Mitra” along with participation of villagers every year organise Sea Turtle Festival in Anjarle during March to April. During this period generally the hatching takes place. After the emergence of hatchlings, babies immediately head for the open sea. The tiny replicas of turtles are in a frenzy to enter the sea water and thus begin their new marine life.
We will get a chance to witness this beautiful natural activity of a life cycle which is the most spectacular sight.
